He holds a master's degree in secondary education from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and is a certified teacher of high school and middle school English. Benjamin Karl was also the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Nolan Award for excellence in the humanities at Madonna University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and graduated with highest honors. Since 1997, he has been active both behind and the in front of the camera as well on stage. His roles have ranged from the dramatic, larger-than-life title role in William Shakespeares’s King Lear to the subtly comic George in Same Time, Next Year, and all the way to David in David Sedaris’s one-man manic romp, The Santaland Diaries.
